Astronomical objects have fascinated mankind ever since the beginnings of recorded history and probably long before that. Today the Hubble space telescope and it's companion instruments, the Chandra X-ray Observatory and the Spitzer Infrared camera allow us to peer deep into the mysteries of the cosmos. Yet the more we discover, the deeper the mystery and the more fascinated we become.
Tycho's Star Remnants
This composite image of the Tycho supernova remnant combines infrared and X-ray observations obtained with NASA's Spitzer and Chandra space observatories, respectively, and the Calar Alto observatory, Spain. It shows the scene more than four centuries after the brilliant star explosion witnessed by Tycho Brahe and other astronomers of that era.
